April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. in seventh grade. She began playing the guitar as well as taking piano lessons, sparking her interest in writing songs. April Lockhart composed her first single"Different" at twelve years old. At the age of 14 April was a big devotee of her time creating and playing with songs. In the following months, she started taking notes with her father in LA and NY. April started to incorporate various other topics relevant to the song, which she called the Take my Hand song for some close friends, like peer pressure issues and suicide among teens. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing popularity as a lifestyle influencer and is employed by the renowned brand of clean and natural beauty Ilia. Her birthplace didn't come with a left hand, and that is why she's the person she is. It's just not the full story. As a result Lockhart's Instagram page isn't afraid to talk about her disability, but the focus isn't on the issue as well. What message is it sending? We are all more than just our physical self. Our identities are complicated and include a myriad of dimensions. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart via video "I am not convinced that my physical appearance will define me. My goal is not to be an influencer on disability, because I've plenty to offer." This doesn't have any effect on my day-to-day life I do things normally, and I've discovered my own method of adjusting things. Since it's a part of who I am, it's something that's worthy of discussion. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime but Lockhart is a true inspiration on that front. Lockhart admits to having been through a few phases in her body, and felt uncomfortable in certain situations wearing outfits that showcased her arms. Nowadays, she dresses whatever she wants and posts images of her outfits to social networks with a sense of pride. To her, self-love was always a lengthy process. It's a long journey. I'm not sure you'll ever arrive. It's important to surround yourself with those who can discern and understand your heart.
