While appearing in Broadway shows, she worked as a waitress. Her first husband Scott Foley met her on the television show "Felicity," where she played a cameo. She got her big break in the action thriller "Alias." Her debut lead role as a character was the highly acclaimed romance "13 Going on 30." She played the role of a teenager caught trapped in the body of a 30-year-old. Garner picked Gary Winick (director) to create the film. They looked for new projects to do until Winick passed away in the year 2011. Garner, who was designated as an ambassador for artists with Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009, was an integral role in the organization.
